There are two different types of all-terrain vehicles, or atvs. There are sports atvs and work/utility atvs. Sports atvs are designed to accelerate quickly and reach top speeds. Work/utility atvs do not have the same sort of acceleration sports atvs do. Work/utility atvs also cannot go as fast as sports atvs. Work/utility atvs are generally heavier than sports atvs because they do not have the same speed. But work/utility atvs are generally used for hauling items and towing small trailers. Work/utility atvs are used in different terrain as well because of the weight difference.

Work/utility atvs are used in many different situations. Hunters might use work/utility atvs to bring items into a hunting area, and they might use work/utility atvs in order to carry out whatever animals they kill. Likewise, the department of fish and game might also use work/utility atvs to cover great distances, to carry supplies, and to transport sick, wounded, or dead animals. Some search and rescue operations also use work/utility atvs to get into hard to reach places by foot and to help rescue lost hikers and campers. But you don't need to be a hunter or a forest ranger to use and enjoy a work/utility atv. Despite its name, work/utility atvs can be a great deal of fun for recreational purposes.
