An atv is an all terrain vehicle. There are many different types of atvs including amphibious atvs, four wheel atvs that are straddled one person atvs, four wheel atvs that use a steering wheel and can seat multiple people and three wheel straddled atvs. Amphibious atvs are six or eight wheeled atvs that seat multiple people and can carry medium to large amounts of cargo. Amphibious atvs can traverse any climate including snow and water. Four wheel straddled atvs come in utility and sports designs and are designed similarly to motorcycles. Utility four wheel atvs are great for farming, hunting and camping. Four wheel utility atvs have optional racks and beds for cargo and most four wheel utility atvs have optional hitch attachments for towing. Four wheel sports atvs are designed for racing and recreation. Four wheel sports atvs are designed more aerodynamically than utility atvs and have smaller tires and frames for better performance. Four wheel atvs with steering wheels work best for farming. These atvs are designed more like a car than a motorcycle and can seat two people. Many of these four wheel atvs come with beds for cargo. Three wheel atvs are not manufactured as much at other types of atvs and are designed similarly to four wheel atvs that are straddled.
